The series “work out II” consisting of several performative video-works deals with the stereotyped demands on a current man of show, named in the different titles, in form of an absurd workout.
For example the video “say yes” shows a performer whose mimic art and gestures seem to descend from the repertoire of commercial TV presentation. She repeats constantly and extremely forceful her emptied phrases like: „Say yes to love, say yes to live, say yes to everything... Say yes and smile, smile, smile! Look out the window and smile…” The whole thing reminds on ideological brainwashing. Nevertheless one doesn’t know if her address is meant for the viewer or just for herself. Her behaviour appears peculiarly, sometimes ironically and a bit madly, especially at the end of the video.
The video „smile“ shows the face of a woman staring in the camera head-on. Suddenly a *beep* is heard and she starts smiling. She makes an effort to produce and reproduce a natural and honest smile until the next *beep*. She takes a break after that until the sound of the next random generated *beep* which restarts the game. It’s a smile-training, concentrated and a bit absurd.
